UASIN GISHU IS GEARED TOWARDS GOOD HEALTH SERVICE DELIVERY.

LET'S SCALE UP HEALTH SERVICE DELIVERY, SAYS THE HEALTH
COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER (CECM).

The Uasin Gishu County health principal took the nip by the bud during the third quarter review
meeting on how some of the health administrators in the respective sub-counties were
discharging their duties and roles. The health CECM was so critical on issuance on services and at the same time on patient and or client-response. Speaking at the health department meeting on the Indicators performance and general service delivery held at the County headquarters, she questioned the way some health officers were proactive in terms of the environment where good hygiene practices was
highlighted, including clean water and solid-liquid waste management and disposal.

The major area of focus was the Antenatal health care which was provided for by the County government. She wanted re-assurement from the health officers managing the antenatal equipment installed in the different health centres from the level 1 which are basically community-based through the dispensaries to the level 4 ones which are the sub-county hospitals.

Responsibility as an emphasis was made via quarter requisitions on all health sectors, whether
public health or on nutrition. Reports pertaining antenatal visits from all the sub-counties were
also included in her persuasion. She emphasized on scaling up other services such that they would match the national government health policy frameworks like immunization. She also stressed on the county health employees to work and not be like union defendants when it came to implementation hence good work ethics.

Her sentiments were also echoed by the Chief Officer in charge of health Dr. Ondieki Gregory
who said that poor supervision in the antenatal health centres was tantamount to negligence of
duty.
